Reputable plastic surgeons will advertise that they are board certified because they know it is important to future patients.

* Does the doctor have a portfolio or before/after photos?
Most doctors should have some patient examples that you can take a look at. Just remember, not everyone’s results are the same. There are many factors that contribute to how cosmetic procedures turn out. That is something you will want to consult your doctor about.

* Check for information about the doctor online.
It is really easy to find reviews, opinions and both good or bad information about pretty much anything you can think of online. Just pull up your favorite search engine (Google, Yahoo or Bing) and type in the name of the doctor or the clinic.

For example, if you were looking for a plastic surgeon in Chicago, IL just type that phrase into the search engine and you will have several options. Take a look at the first few pages of search results. Look for both the good and the bad. One thing you need to consider is that not everyone’s experience will be the same so don’t solely base your decision on what you find online.

* Check the doctor ’s education and surgical experience.
Most of them will have their past education and medical experience posted on their website or office. You can also find such information by checking medical or even plastic surgery portals online.
